These Christmas wreath and garland styling ideas may be just what you are looking for, if you’re keen to find some new ideas for decorating your home for Christmas.
Both wreaths and garlands are linked to traditions that date way back in history, but both have become a modern symbol of creativity, love, joy and are often another way of bringing nature indoors. We adore the idea of styling with wreaths and garlands. Flowing lines, texture boosting decoration.
Here’s 5 ideas for styling Christmas wreaths and garlands.
Idea Number 1: Fireplace Styling
Move over Christmas tree, the fireplace is where it’s all at. Stockings hung ready for Santa, a garland of Advent treats, mistletoe scented candles, stunning flower garlands. The modern fireplace really does fill the home with cosy festive vibes.
Here’s a few ideas for your Christmas fireplace…
– Switch out a mirror or artwork above the fireplace for a festive wreath to take centre stage.
– Dress the mantelpiece with a garland. Choose a fresh evergreen garland, an artificial sparkly one or a snowy white sheepskin garland to represent a magical White Christmas snowfall.
– Have a mirror over the fireplace? Then what about a garland to drape around it? Or attach a welcoming wreath
– An unused fireplace could be stacked with logs for a rustic country look, filled with presents, houseplants, dried flowers, books with baubles scattered within, twinkling candles or a wreath.
– Create a Christmas scene across the mantelpiece gathering a snowy white sheepskin garland, maybe a few snowy baubles, maybe a Christmas cottage or Nativity scene, a vase of eucalyptus and of course a few candles, real or LED.
– Go for the floral look, filling your mantelpiece with dried or fresh flowers. A sprinkling of sheepy snow will add an even more Christmassy vibe.
– How about a snowy white fireplace theme, surrounding your cosy fire with snowy white festive accessories. A beautiful calming scene to bring peace and tranquillity to your Winter home.
Idea number 2: Dressing The Table
The joy of setting the Christmas table. The only day of the year (or maybe two or three if you love entertaining and organising pre Christmas celebrations) where the best crocks come out, the napkins are ironed and the grade A glassware dares to venture out. Don’t forget those candles too, they add that little extra sparkle.
Here’s a few ideas to dress your dining table for Christmas lunch….
– The table centrepiece. Will you opt for a traditional candle or maybe a floral decoration? Our sheepskin candle stands are small sheepskin wreaths with room for a glass candle jar. Choose from 22 colours of sheepskin to match with our Christmas table theme.
– A garland swathed across the table as a table runner is a fabulous way to dress the Christmas table. You might opt for fresh foliage or our versatile 10 metre long sheepskin garland that adds flow and shape to the table. Accessorise your garland with fairy lights, sparkles and festive trinkets and you are all set for a joyful Christmas occasion.
– And what about above the table. A few of our Shepherds have the most amazing decoration above their tables, styled for different occasions.
– Oh and for the extra chair you’re bound to need, no-one needs to be sitting on the kitchen bin (yes my Nana did that one year), when you have a Baa Stool. Our bedroom stools and hairpin stools are the perfect height for switching in as the occasional dining room chair too.
– Want to further zhoosh up your dining space? What about a bespoke sheepskin bench cover to keep your guest’s bottoms ‘oh so cosy’.
Idea number 3: Wreaths
Christmas wreath and garland styling ideas can help make doors and fireplaces pretty. They really do. I love to wander the village in the early evening looking at everyone’s Christmas decorations and lights. It’s magical. And door wreaths really do make doors pretty. We wouldn’t suggest our sheepskin wreath for outdoor use for any long periods of time, but a short period outside on a dry day (hint Christmas day) would be fine.
Decorate your home with wreaths….
You’ll probably be opting for a fresh wreath, or a sparkly artificial wreath to be used over and over again for your front door. Maybe you even make your own from foraged foliage or I’ve seen some beautiful bright ones made from brightly coloured unused baubles and even one made out of toys. Don’t forget to entwine fairy lights into your wreath so that it stands out at night as well as in the day.
Wreaths also look amazing brightening up internal doors, and definitely doors in internal porches. Our sheepskin wreath is now available in 30 colours, so whatever your Christmas colour theme, we have a wreath to match.
This wreath will give your friends and family a warm and heartfelt welcome this winter.
Choose our original ivory wreath and the fairy lights inside the soft, delicate wreath will add a gentle, warming glow like distant lights on a snowy night.
Whichever look you love most, definitely make a wreath part of your Christmas decoration.
Idea number 4: Spruce The Staircase
Don’t you just love walking into a home that’s made an effort dressing the staircase and hallway for Christmas? Candles on a hallway bench, a garland wrapped around the banister, maybe a string of advent parcels dotted up the staircase. A beautiful welcome to arrive to. Besides Christmas wreath and garland styling ideas what could you do to decorate your staircase for Christmas?
A few ideas for decorating your staircase for Christmas….
– Wrap a garland up the bannisters. Maybe string baubles off it like the black and white version above. Or even wrap 2 different garlands together.
– Hang a few stockings up the staircase adding texture and warmth.
– Display those pesky Christmas cards (gosh mine usually end up in a pile) on a garland or ribbon up the stairs.
– I’ve also seen a staircase with an LED candle on every step. Soooo beautiful. Real candles would be too scary here. They’d probably set the pile at the bottom of the stairs on file (you know THAT pile at the bottom of the stairs!)
– Last idea. Hang individual baubles on ribbons on the bannister. All in a single colour scheme or maybe an alternating rainbow of colours. Our snowy white baables would look spectacular, like little balls of snow.
Tip number 5 – Shop Early
Being an earlybird Christmas shopper is probably the only way to avoid the shopping stress and the rush in the shops. In my dreams, I buy gifts throughout the year, spreading out the cost, and finding the perfect gift for each person. It never happens, but I do like to support other small businesses and shop as early as I can.
