Meet Huw the Highland – Sheepskin Doorstop
Our lovable Highland cow sheepskin door stop, Huw, is guaranteed to bring a smile while keeping your doors in place. With his gingery-brown sheepskin coat, velvety soft body, and shaggier textured fringe, Huw is as handsome as he is practical. His sturdy build makes him both a quirky home accessory and a hardworking helper.

Inspired by the flock of highland cattle that have been introduced to our local Denbigh Moors as part of a conservation project.

  • Made from luxurious natural sheepskin in warm gingery-brown tones

  • Characterful real leather horns and nose for extra Highland charm

  • Weighted to approximately 1.5kg — strong enough for heavy doors

  • Compact and sturdy: 25cm wide x 20cm high

  • Handmade with care at our Baa Stool workshop in North Wales

Huw isn’t just a doorstop — he’s a conversation starter, a little piece of Highland magic for your home. Order your Huw the Highland today and let him keep things stylishly under control!

Boucle Style sheepskin will measure 5cm less all around as the wool pile is much shorter.

As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in texture and length.  That’s why we specify that our measurements are approximate.

Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin.  The natural colours of Ivory, Rare Breed and Chocolate will not be afftected by strong sunlight.

How to Care for Sheepskin

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not bred for their skins and sheepskin is a by product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form ‘Team Baa’ and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
