Meet Ozzy – our wonderfully oversized sheepskin owl doorstop. Standing approximately 40cm tall and weighing around 2.5kg, he’s a substantial chap, handmade from British rare breed sheepskin and definitely difficult to ignore.

Measurements

Measures approximately 30cm x 40cm high so it’s a generous size.

Ozzy isn’t a little owl quietly hiding behind the door. He’s a very large owl with plenty of presence, personality and enough weight to tackle even a substantial door.

Standing approximately 40cm high and 30cm wide, Ozzy is generously sized and made from wonderfully tactile British rare breed sheepskin. His beautifully characterful fleece makes every owl completely individual, while his lifelike European Eagle Owl glass eyes give him that unmistakable Ozzy stare.

At around 2.5kg, he’s reassuringly weighty and robust enough to hold heavier doors open. We’ve also added a strong leather lifting loop, making it easy to move him when required.

Each Ozzy is handmade in our North Wales workshop, and because natural rare breed sheepskins vary so beautifully in colour, markings and texture, no two are ever quite alike.

Better still, the Ozzy you see in the photographs is the exact owl you’ll receive, so you can choose your favourite knowing precisely which character is coming home with you.

Big, beautifully woolly and guaranteed to make you smile – we still think Ozzy is the wisest way to keep a door open.

Good to know

Ozzy is most definitely a doorstop – NOT a toy.

Natural British rare breed sheepskin varies in colour, markings and texture. That’s exactly what gives each Ozzy his own personality.

Boucle Style sheepskin will measure 5cm less all around as the wool pile is much shorter.

As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in texture and length.  That’s why we specify that our measurements are approximate.

Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin.  The natural colours of Ivory, Rare Breed and Chocolate will not be afftected by strong sunlight.

How to Care for Sheepskin

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not bred for their skins and sheepskin is a by product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form ‘Team Baa’ and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
