We couldn’t possibly make a Christmas collection without Rudolph! Our handmade reindeer doorstop has a beautifully soft velvety sheepskin body, real leather antlers, shiny black eyes and, of course, a wonderfully bright red wool felt nose. Weighing approximately 1.5kg, he’s as useful as he is adorable.

The story

Now, we know what you’re thinking. Where’s Rudolph? Well, here he is!

Having shown remarkable restraint with the nose on our reindeer pouffe, we decided that at least one member of the Christmas flock simply had to have the real thing.

A big, bright red nose.

Our Rudolph doorstop is handmade from beautifully soft velvety sheepskin, with genuine leather antlers, shiny black eyes and a cheerful red wool felt nose.

And what a difference a nose makes.

He’s got that wonderfully earnest expression that makes you suspect he’d take his Christmas Eve responsibilities very seriously indeed.

At approximately 1.5kg, he’s substantial enough to do a proper job of holding open a door.

Although we suspect quite a few Rudolphs will find themselves sitting beside fireplaces, underneath Christmas trees or keeping watch over the presents instead.

Because not everything in the Baa Stool workshop has to be entirely practical.

Sometimes it just has to make you smile.

Styling notes

Rudolph is perfectly happy doing his proper job beside a door, but we think he’d be equally at home beside a fireplace or nestled among the presents beneath the Christmas tree.

He’s also rather lovely in a hallway, ready to welcome visitors throughout December.

Drop note

Created for Workshop Drop No. 20 because, quite frankly, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a red-nosed reindeer.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Some of our stools require very basic assembly. We have a fully dedicated page to guide you on how to assemble your Baa Stool.  Click on the link below to view our full guide.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form ‘Team Baa’ and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
