Using sheepskin in the garden…..

Have you noticed the increasing number of wooden cabins, summer houses and workshops that are appearing in people’s gardens? These small wooden dwellings seem to be cropping up everywhere. And while the interior design trend at the moment is all about bringing the outside inside (as we saw in our blog about cottagecore), in our gardens, we seem to be bringing the inside out! From artists’ studios and games rooms to gyms and peaceful hideaways, little rooms are popping up in our gardens all across the country. Here’s our guide to using sheepskin in the garden.

Accessorise…

Modern Garden Rooms explain on their website that, “Making your garden area a cosy place in which to relax by using what are normally interior items allows you to merge your home with your garden and to seamlessly extend your overall look, making your home feel larger and more desirable. Think about adding a coffee table, cushions and throws, mirrors, rugs and a variety of lighting to achieve your preferred look.”  And when it comes to garden rooms specifically, they say, “As more and more people are discovering that it is possible to work from home, to exercise from home, to have a space separate from the house for their hobbies, the garden room trend is hotter than ever!”

Outdoor rooms…

Right now, there seem to be so many styles of garden room to tempt us – from a traditional, cosy log cabin to a sleek, modern design with large windows from floor to ceiling, built on raised decking. Garden rooms can be small and offbeat converted sheds or they can even be large conservatories built onto your house, full of light and soft furnishings – inviting and comfortable extensions of your home.

Neutral tones…

So, how would you furnish such a space? I know what I’d do! Inspired by all things Hygge and Scandi, I’d add texture and a hint of luxury with sheepskin. Hygge is that quality of cosiness and comfort that brings about a feeling of contentment and enhances our sense of wellbeing. It’s regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture, and I can’t get enough of it!
Whether you want to select a calm and soothing colour scheme of neutral tones and pale greys, or you want to create an inspiring, uplifting space of bright and vibrant colours is entirely up to you.
