Ercol Sheepskin Seat Pads

Some designs really don’t need improving, but they can certainly be made a little cosier.

Designed by Luciano Ercolani for Ercol in the 1960s, the 365 Quaker Dining Chair has become one of the most recognisable British Mid Century designs. Its beautifully simple elm seat and elegant spindle back were always designed to accommodate a seat pad, so we’ve created our own version in wonderfully soft sheepskin.

Each pad is handmade in our North Wales workshop and shaped specifically to sit neatly on the original Ercol seat. Rather than hiding the character of the chair, the pad follows its distinctive shape while adding a layer of natural warmth and comfort.

The clever bit is underneath. Each pad has four discreet beige fixing tapes, positioned with two on either side of the chair. These work with the original Ercol seat tab holders, securing the pad neatly in place without altering or damaging the chair.

Choose from our selection of long wool sheepskin colours or short, tactile shearling finishes to give your Ercol chairs a completely different look, from soft and understated to something a little more playful.

Perfect if you have an original set you’d like to refresh, or simply want to make those beautiful wooden seats a little more inviting around the dinner table.

Designed to fit the Ercol 365 Quaker Dining Chair and also suitable for Ercol styles 369, 370, 371, 375, 376, 414, 428 and 435.

Good to know: As sheepskin is a natural material, there will always be slight variations in colour, texture and wool length. We think that’s part of what makes each one special.

As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in shade, texture and length.  That's why we specify that our measurements are approximate and offer free colour samples.

Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin.  The natural colours of Ivory, Rare Breed and Chocolate will not be affected by strong sunlight.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Some of our stools require very basic assembly. We have a fully dedicated page to guide you on how to assemble your Baa Stool.  Click on the link below to view our full guide.

Just received my Ercol seat pads. Just perfect & helped update 2 inherited Ercol dining chairs. Fantastic service

  2. Alice (verified owner) –

I cannot recommend these seat pads more! Anyone that has an Ercol chair knows they are massively uncomfortable, so much so I nearly listened to my husband and got rid of them. However I’ve been following BAASTOOL for a while and decided to go for the cushions, and I am so glad I did! Definitely get samples too so you can check the colours, they are all beautiful but we ended up going for Eggshell, and they look brilliant on our newly painted chairs. Over the moon with them, thank you BAASTOOL, also customer service is a ten out of ten. I will be back as now want cushions for my sofa to match!

  3. Diana (verified owner) –

Fantastic service! I ordered a rare breed ercol seat pad and it was custom made and delivered in less than a week. Oh and did I mention it’s beautiful as well. Thank you Baa Stool

  4. Ruth Phillips –

I received my covers today and am absolutely thrilled. Thank you so much.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
