Hattie the Hedgehog Door Stop is a handmade sheepskin door stop and part of our new Woodland Animals range. Made thoughtfully from woodland brown rare breed sheepskin with a curly cocoa wool belly, black felted wool paws and glass eyes, Hattie is filled with pebbles and weighs approximately 1.5kg.

A small curled-up sheepskin hedgehog door stop with plenty of woodland character.

The story

Meet Hattie.

Hattie is Hector’s smaller companion, made in the same curled-up hedgehog style and also part of our new Woodland Animals range.

Like Hector, she came from Sanna’s long-held wish to make a hedgehog. The idea had been sitting quietly in her mind for ages, developing slowly in that very Sanna way, until one day the time was right.

Hattie lies on her back, gently curled up, with woodland brown rare breed sheepskin for her long, shaggy “spines” and short curly cocoa sheepskin wool for her soft belly. She has black wool felted paws and nose, black glass eyes and just enough weight to hold a door beautifully.

She is practical, yes, but she is also a little decorative character in her own right. A hedgehog for the floor, the hearth, the shelf or wherever she can quietly make herself at home.

Good to know

Hattie is filled with pebbles, giving her enough weight to work as a practical door stop.

She is easy to care for. Please refer to our sheepskin care guide for looking after the wool.

Styling notes

Hattie is designed as a door stop, but she is characterful enough to be decorative too.

Use her by a door, on a hearth, tucked under a bench, placed on a shelf or styled on the floor in a boot room, hallway, snug or cottage corner.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form ‘Team Baa’ and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
