Meet Gruff, our first hornless cow pouffe, inspired by a wonderfully shaggy Welsh Black spotted at the Anglesey Show.
The story
Meet our latest large cow pouffe – Gruff – a Welsh Black.
We recently had a stand at the Anglesey Show and, rather dangerously for Michelle, the shopping pavilion sits right next door to the cattle shed.
It was filled with the most beautiful examples of breed perfection, but one Welsh Black in particular caught her eye. He had the shaggiest ears and so much character that he was never going to be forgotten.
Back at the workshop, Sanna and Jane set about recreating him.
This is our first cow pouffe without horns, staying true to the naturally polled Welsh Black breed that inspired him.
Long black sheepskin has been used to create his wonderfully shaggy fringe and ears, while a black leather nose and carefully placed eyes really bring his face to life.
Big, bold and full of personality, he is part practical pouffe, part piece of furniture and very much a character in his own right.

We understand how important it is to keep your lovely sheepskin looking baamazing..so we’ve created a list of tips and tricks on how to do just that!
We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not bred for their skins and sheepskin is a by product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?
In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form ‘Team Baa’ and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
