A big, bold 70cm floor cushion handmade by Sian from vibrant orange velvety sheepskin squares, backed in soft navy moleskin velvet and stuffed with our own sheepskin trimmings. Super squidgy, wonderfully robust and made for serious lounging.
The story
Sian has been having rather a lovely time with Dolly.
Dolly is our new specialist sewing machine and, since she arrived in the workshop, Sian has been experimenting with piecing together sheepskin to create these wonderful oversized floor cushions.
Then she spotted this orange.
Bright, rich and unapologetically vibrant, the velvety sheepskin was far too good to ignore – and there was absolutely no chance Sian was going to let Halloween Drop pass without using it.
She has cut the sheepskin into squares and carefully pieced them together to make the 70cm x 70cm front, then backed the cushion in beautifully soft navy blue moleskin velvet.
Inside, we’ve used our own sheepskin trimmings to create a wonderfully squidgy, substantial cushion that’s made to be properly lounged on.
Orange and navy shouldn’t necessarily scream Halloween – but somehow, for Drop 18, it feels absolutely perfect.

Good to know
We save our usable sheepskin trimmings in the workshop and use them as filling for pieces like this rather than allowing such a wonderful natural material to go to waste.
The result is heavier and more substantial than a conventional lightweight cushion filling, with a wonderfully squidgy feel.
Styling notes
The orange does all the talking.
Put it on a dark floor, beside a sofa, in a reading corner or pile it with other cushions for an informal place to lounge.
The deep navy velvet on the reverse gives you a completely different, quieter look whenever you fancy a change.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?
In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
