The story
Nutty has been quietly waiting his turn in Sanna’s imagination for a very long time.
He is the first squirrel to scamper out of the Baa Stool workshop, made especially for our Woodland Collection and inspired by something very close to home. Just a short hop from Baa Stool HQ is Clocaenog Forest, home to a precious population of red squirrels – an endangered native species we are very proud to have nearby.
So this little chap is part doorstop, part woodland character, and part love letter to one of our favourite local creatures.
Made from ginger and ivory-toned velvety sheepskin, with a long fluffy copper tail and tufty ears, Nutty is full of personality. Cute, cheeky and just a little bit mischievous – exactly as a squirrel should be.

Nutty is handmade from natural sheepskin offcuts, so every squirrel will have its own markings, tones and personality.

Styling notes
Nutty is made for hallways, boot rooms, children’s bedrooms, cosy corners and anywhere that could do with a little woodland mischief. He looks especially lovely holding open a door near warm wood, stone floors, natural textures and all the comforting details of a busy home.
As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in texture and length. That's why we specify that our measurements are approximate.
Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not bred for their skins and sheepskin is a by product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?
In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
