We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

A very special Victorian mahogany tub armchair, rebuilt from the frame up and finished in Fossil long wool sheepskin.
The story
This is a special seat indeed.
We have taken a Victorian rosewood framed tub armchair back to its original frame, resprung it, rebuilt the upholstery properly, then finished it with a coat of beautifully soft Fossil coloured long wool sheepskin.
The frame has wonderful old details, with scroll carved arms, cabriole front legs, plain back legs and brass castors. To honour those original features, we have used a matching 100% wool on the outside back and finished it with lovely old gold decorative nails to complement the brass castors.
It is a proper traditional armchair, but with the full Baa Stool softness treatment.
The traditional coil springs give it the most comfortable, generous seat. It feels supportive, cosy and very much like the sort of chair you could lose an afternoon in.

Good to know
This is an antique chair, so small signs of age in the rosewood frame are part of its character – that being said, the condition of this frame is superb!
It has been taken back to frame, resprung and rebuilt before being finished in sheepskin and wool.
The traditional coil springs give a particularly comfortable seat, with a lovely balance of support and softness.
As with all natural sheepskin pieces, there will be variation in the wool texture, tone and markings.
Styling notes
This chair belongs in a reading corner, fireside spot, bedroom, library or quiet sitting room where it can be properly enjoyed.
The Fossil long wool sheepskin gives it a soft, layered, natural feel, while the mahogany frame, brass castors and old gold nails keep its traditional character intact.
It would sit beautifully in a period home with old wood, books, wool blankets and warm lamp light, but it would also work as a striking one-off piece in a modern neutral room.
As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in texture and length. That's why we specify that our measurements are approximate.
Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin. The natural colours of Ivory, Rare Breed and Chocolate will not be affected by strong sunlight.

Why Baa Stool?

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
