Meet Draftie No. 1, our slightly daft new sheepskin draught excluder. Handmade in Chocolate and Black sheepskin, filled with workshop trimmings and ready for serious draught busting.
The story
We set out to make a sausage dog draught excluder.
This is not quite what happened.
We gave him a long body in deep, silky smooth Chocolate sheepskin.
Black velvety sheepskin ears.
A little Black sheepskin tail.
And a pair of deep black glass eyes.
Then we stood back.
There is definitely something sausage dog-ish going on.
But the face?
Strong guinea pig.
So rather than attempt to identify whatever strange new breed we had created, we gave him a name of his own.
Draftie.
Because he blocks draughts.
And he’s a little bit daft.
At 100cm long he is generously filled with sheepskin trimmings from the workshop, giving him plenty of weight and substance for proper draught busting.
And because we have fallen rather in love with his funny little face, we think Draftie may become a regular visitor to the Drops.
Each one will be different.
Different sheepskins.
Different colours.
And, judging by this first attempt, quite possibly a slightly different species.
Meet Draftie No. 1.

Styling notes
Draftie belongs wherever the draught is.
Against a front door.
Across a chilly hallway.
Beside a back door.
Or, quite possibly, sitting somewhere completely impractical because you like his face.
The deep Chocolate and Black sheepskin gives this first Draftie a rich, understated look despite his slightly questionable ancestry.
Drop note
Draftie No. 1 was handmade especially for Drop 17.
He is the first of what we hope will become a recurring collection of one-off Drafties, with each new character appearing in a future Workshop Drop.
No two will be the same.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
