Out of stock

A wonderfully woolly one-off Highland cow pouffe made from creamy Yeti sheepskin, with an Austrian curly sheepskin fringe and Oatmeal shearling face. Finished with cream leather horns and nose – she’s a very tactile new member of the Baa Stool herd.

The story

There’s curly, and then there’s this girl.

For this Highland cow we decided to have a proper play with texture.

Her body is made from wonderfully curly, creamy Yeti sheepskin, giving her that shaggy Highland look before we’d even begun on her fringe.

Then came a beautiful Austrian curly sheepskin for her hair – even more characterful curls falling around her face and ears.

To give all that wool a little contrast, we’ve made her face from our shorter Oatmeal shearling sheepskin.

The different textures work beautifully together – creamy curls across the body, an even wilder fringe and that soft Oatmeal face peeping through underneath.

Cream leather horns and a matching cream leather nose finish her off, along with those deep glass eyes that somehow manage to give every cow we make an entirely different expression.

She’s generously filled with a mixture of beanbag beads and sheepskin trimmings from our workshop, so she’s substantial but still satisfyingly squidgy.

A proper Highland girl.

And possibly one of our curliest yet.

Styling notes

All those creamy, natural tones make her wonderfully easy to place.

She’d look particularly lovely in a room filled with natural materials – oak, linen, wool, stone and warm neutral colours.

The mixture of Yeti, curly Austrian sheepskin and Oatmeal shearling also makes her incredibly tactile.

She’s a statement piece, certainly, but in the softest possible way.

Drop note

Made especially for Workshop Drop 19, this is a one-off combination of three wonderfully tactile sheepskin textures.

One cow. An awful lot of curls.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
