We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

The story
This elegant Victorian chair began its next chapter when it was discovered by our friends at Denbighshire Antiques.
Beneath the old upholstery was an excellent mahogany frame with beautifully shaped cabriole front legs and original brass castors. We completely stripped the chair back to its frame before rebuilding it from the inside out.
New springs were fitted, followed by new stuffing and calico, restoring the comfort and support the chair would have offered when it was first made.
For the upholstery, we chose a beautifully balanced combination of soft Oatmeal sheepskin and coordinating neutral 100% pure wool. The sheepskin brings warmth and luxurious texture, while the wool keeps the overall look refined and elegant.
Subdued piping defines the shape without feeling too formal, and speckled decorative nails provide a final, quietly characterful detail.
The result is an extremely comfortable antique chair that feels both special and wonderfully usable. Its brass castors make it easy to move, allowing it to work beside a dressing table, in a bedroom or living room, or as a beautifully distinctive office or desk chair.

Good to know
This is an original antique chair rather than a newly manufactured frame. Gentle signs of age and previous life may remain within the timber and are part of its history and character.
The upholstery, springs, stuffing and calico have all been newly applied by hand. Natural sheepskin varies slightly in colour and wool texture.
Styling notes
This chair would make an elegant occasional chair in a bedroom, hallway or living room, while its compact dimensions make it particularly versatile.
The comfortable seat, supportive arms and brass castors would also make it a wonderfully distinctive desk chair in a home office — especially in a room where something softer and more characterful is preferred to a conventional office chair.
Its oatmeal and neutral palette works beautifully with natural wood, linen, warm whites and quiet, layered interiors.
As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in texture and length. That’s why we specify that our measurements are approximate.
Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin. The natural colours of Ivory, Rare Breed and Chocolate will not be affected by strong sunlight.

Why Baa Stool?
In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form ‘Team Baa’ and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
