A reversible 45cm round cushion combining rich copper sheepskin with coordinating velvet, finished with a sheepskin border and central button on the reverse.
The story
We wanted to make a round cushion for this Drop.
Then, as usual, we couldn’t resist fiddling with the idea.
Rather than simply covering both sides in the same material, we decided to give each side a completely different look.
One side is covered in rich copper coloured sheepskin.
Turn it over and you find coordinating velvet, framed with the same copper sheepskin and finished with a button right in the centre.
The result is a cushion with two very different personalities.
Lots of soft tactile wool one way.
Something more tailored and decorative the other.
At 45cm across it is generous enough to make an impact without overwhelming a chair or sofa, and those warm copper tones are just perfect for autumn.
A simple idea.
A slightly unusual shape.
And a lovely combination of textures.

Styling notes
The copper colour works beautifully with warm woods, rust, tobacco, cream, oatmeal and deep greens.
It would look particularly good on a simple armchair where the round shape and contrast of textures can really be seen.
Flip it whenever you fancy a change.
Drop note
This round copper sheepskin and velvet cushion was designed and handmade especially for Drop 17.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
