Meet Dolly, our gloriously pink sheepskin Bear Chair, handmade in North Wales and named in honour of the incomparable Dolly Parton.

Big, joyful and completely unapologetic, Dolly is upholstered from top to toe in silky baby pink sheepskin, with oversized paw-like arms, a wonderfully enveloping high back and all the personality you could possibly ask from an armchair.

Meet Dolly.

There really wasn’t another name for her.

Our newest Bear Chair is covered from top to toe in beautiful baby pink sheepskin, so when she emerged from the workshop looking this fabulous, Dolly felt inevitable.

She is named in honour of Dolly Parton, not simply because of the pink, the glamour and the larger-than-life personality, but because Dolly has always represented rather more than that.

A feminist icon. A gay icon. A phenomenally shrewd businesswoman. Kind, generous, funny and utterly comfortable being exactly who she is.

She built an extraordinary career and business empire without ever suggesting that ambition and kindness were mutually exclusive. And she has never exactly been shy about promoting whatever she happens to be working on.

Frankly, we think she would understand us naming a chair after her perfectly well.

It’s the job.

Our Dolly is similarly uninterested in blending quietly into the background.

Her traditional wingback shape has been transformed with generous padding and oversized rounded arms to create the distinctive Bear Chair silhouette, then completely upholstered in silky baby pink sheepskin.

She is soft, extravagant, wonderfully tactile and very, very pink.

A serious piece of furniture with a sense of humour.

We think Dolly would approve.

A chair with personality

Dolly has all the wonderfully exaggerated proportions that make our Bear Chairs so distinctive.

The tall winged back wraps around you, while those enormous sheepskin-covered arms give her the unmistakable appearance of a rather luxurious bear waiting for a cuddle.

The generous seat makes her a chair you can genuinely curl up in, rather than simply admire from across the room.

And although baby pink might be playful, the craftsmanship underneath is very much the real thing. Dolly has been traditionally upholstered by hand in our North Wales workshop and finished in natural sheepskin, making every chair subtly different.

Naturally unique

Sheepskin is a natural material, so variation is part of its beauty.

The wool can differ slightly in length, texture and movement across the chair, giving Dolly the wonderfully tactile, characterful finish that simply cannot be replicated with a manufactured fabric.

No two will ever look completely identical.

Styling Dolly

Dolly needs surprisingly little help.

Let her take centre stage in an otherwise neutral room, place her in a colourful maximalist interior, or fully commit and surround her with more pink.

She would make a fabulous reading chair, bedroom chair, dressing room chair or statement piece in a living room.

And if baby pink is not quite your colour, our Bear Chairs can also be created in a wide choice of other sheepskin shades.

Add the matching stool

For the ultimate curl-up-and-get-comfortable experience, Dolly is also available with a matching baby pink sheepskin footstool.

Made to coordinate beautifully with the chair, it gives you somewhere to put your feet up and completes the whole wonderfully indulgent look.

Matching stool dimensions:
35cm high x 55cm wide x 45cm deep

As with the chair, measurements are approximate as natural sheepskin can vary slightly in wool length.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Rare breed sheepskin is wonderfully expressive. Each piece has its own natural character, with variations in wool length, texture, curl and colour that make every creation entirely unique.

Tones range from soft creams and warm ivories through to rich browns and deep chocolate shades, often with subtle variation across a single fleece. Some pieces are long and flowing, others more textured and sculptural — all naturally occurring and impossible to replicate.

This natural diversity is exactly what gives rare breed pieces their depth, movement and individuality.

For made-to-order pieces, you’re invited to select your favourites from the collection. From there, we carefully curate a complementary set, considering tone, texture and flow so everything works beautifully together. We’ll always share the selection with you for approval before any making begins.

As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in texture and length.  That's why we specify that our measurements are approximate.

Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin.  The natural colours of Ivory, Rare Breed and Chocolate will not be affected by strong sunlight.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
