Meet Hector – now in cushion form.
Handmade by Sanna in our North Wales workshop, Hector is made from woodland brown rare breed sheepskin with a short curly Cocoa sheepskin underbelly, black felted paws and nose, and deep black glass eyes. Softer and slimmer than the Hector pouffe, he is made for sofas, beds, reading corners and seriously cosy lounging.
The story
Meet Hector.
Hector first appeared as the beginning of our Woodland Animals range, after Sanna had quietly been thinking about making a hedgehog for a very long time.
Sanna loves spending time in nature, and the idea had been tucked away in her head for ages.
She is not one to rush these things.
She lets a pattern develop slowly, turning it over in her mind until, one day, she arrives in the workshop and announces:
“Today is the day. Hedgehog.”
And now Hector has become a cushion too.
He is made in much the same way as our original Hector pouffe, just slimmer and softer so he can settle happily onto a sofa, chair or bed.
His shaggy chocolate sheepskin body gives him all those wonderfully wild woodland “spines”, while his underbelly is made from short curly Cocoa sheepskin.
He has little black wool felted paws, a matching felted nose, black glass eyes and that same slightly curious expression that made us love the original Hector so much.
He is tactile, cosy and full of personality.
The sort of cushion you buy because he makes you smile and then discover everyone in the house wants to cuddle him.

Good to know
Hector the cushion is made using the same mix of textures that gives the original Hector pouffe so much character.
The long rare breed sheepskin forms his shaggy body, while the shorter Cocoa sheepskin creates his soft belly.
He is less substantial than the pouffe and is designed for lounging and decoration rather than use as a footstool.
Please refer to our sheepskin care guide for advice on keeping him looking his best.
Filled with sheepskin trimmings for extra squish.
Styling notes
Hector is made for cosy corners.
Pop him onto a sofa, favourite armchair, bed or reading nook where his woodland colouring can sit alongside wool, linen, wood and other natural textures.
He would be especially lovely in an autumnal room, a snug but he has enough character to work just as happily in a sitting room.
He looks particularly good layered with plain cushions, where all that shaggy rare breed texture can stand out.
And because this is Hector, there is a very good chance he will quietly become everyone’s favourite.
Range note
Hector began life as the first character in our Woodland Animals range.
This cushion version keeps all the details we loved about the original pouffe, but in a softer, slimmer form made especially for sofas, chairs and beds.
A little less footstool.
A lot more cuddle.
Not a toy.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
