We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK. Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand. Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.
Do contact us for a current lead time on our chairs…it can be up to 8 weeks but is usually much faster if you chair is already made!
The story
Some chairs make you sit a little straighter.
This isn’t one of them.
This vintage Ercol Jubilee Easy Chair was designed for properly settling into, with its sculptural exposed wooden frame, curved arms, generous proportions and wonderfully relaxed seating position.
We’ve deliberately kept all of that original Ercol character intact.
The solid wooden frame is sturdy and sound, with the knocks, scuffs and small marks you’d expect to find on a genuine vintage piece. We’ve thoroughly cleaned it and applied a protective finish rather than attempting to erase its history.
The seat has been re-webbed with traditional Pirelli webbing to restore its spring and support.
Then we turned our attention to those fabulous loose cushions.
We’ve made completely new cushion covers using beautifully soft Seashell coloured sheepskin, following the shape and construction of the originals right down to the ties that secure them to the chair and prevent the cushions from wandering forwards while you sit.
On the reverse of the back cushion we’ve used a coordinating Linwood 100% wool fabric, giving the chair an equally considered finish from behind.
The combination works beautifully – pale tactile sheepskin against that sculptural vintage wooden frame.
And then there’s the comfort.
Deep seat. Generous back. Soft sheepskin.

Condition
The frame is solid and sturdy.
As a genuine vintage chair, there are scuffs, scratches and marks consistent with its age and previous life. We think these belong there.
The timber has been cleaned and given a protective finish, while the webbing and sheepskin cushion covers are newly made.

Styling notes
A lovely piece for a bedroom, reading corner or sitting room.
The pale Seashell sheepskin keeps the overall look light and modern, while the exposed Ercol frame brings warmth and unmistakable mid-century character.
It would be particularly lovely surrounded by warm woods, natural linen, wool, stone and quiet neutral colours.
Drop note
This vintage Ercol chair has been individually restored and reworked for Drop 15. We won’t be reproducing it.
As sheepskin is a natural product the wool on each of our sheepskin products is unique and can differ in texture and length. That’s why we specify that our measurements are approximate.
Please keep the dyed colours out of strong sunlight as it may bleach and dry out the skin. The natural colours of Ivory, Rare Breed and Chocolate will not be affected by strong sunlight.
Why Baa Stool?
In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer. Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’
I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality. The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen. The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks. I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods. This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.
Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form ‘Team Baa’ and a Great Little British Business was born.
I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
