Little Sheepskin Cow Pouffe is a one-of-a-kind Drop piece, handmade in our North Wales workshop from beautifully patterned rare breed Jacob sheepskin.

Inspired by the markings of Friesian cows, she is finished with grey leather horns and nose, plus a shaggy fringe made from rare breed offcuts. Listed separately from Large Sheepskin Cow Pouffe, but they make a rather wonderful pair if both are still available.

The story

Little — and her larger companion Large — was born from patience and a very good idea.

In one of our deliveries, we discovered four matching Jacob sheepskin rugs. They were beautifully soft and naturally patterned, but too small for stools. Rather than force them into something they weren’t meant to be, we set them aside and waited for the right moment.

That moment came when we started thinking about pattern, texture and the familiar sight of dairy herds grazing in the fields around us. Inspired by the markings of Friesian cows, and our long-standing love of characterful animal pieces, Little and Large took shape.

Finished with grey leather horns and nose, and a shaggy fringe made from rare breed offcuts from our secret stash, Little may be the smaller of the two, but she is every bit as full of warmth, charm and personality. Being made from rare breed Jacob sheepskin means she is completely one of a kind.

Little is listed separately from Large, but they do make a rather wonderful pair if both are still available.

We source the highest quality grade sheepskin predominantly from flocks across the UK.  Where we are unable to source a specific colour within the UK we import sheepskin from New Zealand.  Sheep are not farmed for their skins and sheepskin is a by-product of the food industry.

Why Baa Stool?

Baa Stool Meet The Team

In 2011 I left the corporate world, moved home to rural North Wales and retrained to be an upholsterer.  Two years in, during a tea break from a particularly challenging chair, I was looking at the sheep in the fields surrounding my workshop and mused ‘they look like little footstools. Hmmmmmm…sheepskin covered footstools. Oh yes!’

I spent several months developing the idea and ensuring that every detail of the product is high quality.  The frames and legs are made by skilled craftsmen.  The sheepskin is always premium grade and predominantly from UK flocks.  I source the best upholstery materials and we upholster each Baa Stool using a mix of modern and traditional methods.  This is important because I want my customers to enjoy a product that is the very best it can possibly be.

Around this exciting product a group of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals gathered to form 'Team Baa' and a Great Little British Business was born.

I started selling Baa Stools at local artisan markets and county shows and they quickly developed a following. I noticed that the sheepskin cover upholstered on the footstools made people stop in their tracks, look closer…then, inevitably, smile. This quickly became the overall aim of every new design… to make people smile when they walk into a room.
